The nurse practitioner (NP) assists individuals and families with their care needs by obtaining health and medical histories, performing physical examinations, and assessing health problems. The NP cares for patients with acute and chronic life limiting illnesses by managing therapeutic regimens, prescribing medications and performing other studies and activities that are deemed appropriate. New and follow-up patients will be seen and evaluated by the NP and physician input will be obtained as necessary as described in the nurse practitioner practice guidelines. The NP will assume the spine program management responsibilities and will facilitate communication with the patient, the patient's family or significant other and the referring physician. The NP will work in collaboration with the patients' attending physicians at the North Shore Medical Center in Salem, as well as provide continued collaboration with the patients' primary care provider(s).
Patients evaluated by the NP include those patients referred to the spine program site that includes physiatrists, spine surgeons, nurse practitioners and physicians assistants. The patient population includes patients adults. Responsibilities include rounding at the hospital, (initiating consults and evaluating post operative patients) and working in the clinic.
- Maintain current certification in CPR.
- Masters of Science. Certification as Adult, Family or Geriatric Nurse Practitioner
- APRN licensure, Nurse Practitioner and MA RN licensure. Maintain current controlled substance licenses (Federal and State)
Two years experience with adult or geriatric Care NP preferred
