In 2019, we opened a newly renovated, state-of-the-art, 120-bed psychiatric facility on the NSMC campus in Salem, MA in affiliation with Massachusetts General Hospital. This facility features two adult units, one child and adolescent unit, and one geriatric unit. These units are fully integrated with the Medical Center, joining the outpatient clinic, psychiatric consultation service, and partial hospitalization program to provide excellent medical, psychiatric, and subspecialty care to all patients.
We are seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to work within the outpatient department, providing psychopharmacological management to adults with psychiatric and substance use disorders. There may be some opportunity to work with children and adolescents as well. We are open to both part-time and full-time schedules.
This position can be half-time to full-time, and there are opportunities for clinical work with both the adult and pediatric populations, depending on the candidate’s interest and experience. Each psychiatric nurse practitioner has a collaborative supervisory relationship with a psychiatrist and is offered regular supervision. There are multiple opportunities for ongoing professional learning including 2 CME conferences per month. The department has a noncompetitive, collaborative atmosphere, and a long track record of excellent collaboration between physicians and NP's. There are currently 14 NP's in the department who work in all the different levels of care.
Our NPs work side-by-side with experienced board-certified psychiatrists; this allows for both easily accessible supervision as well as a team-based approach to clinical care. We welcome all levels of experience, including new graduates, as on-site supervision is robust. NSMC offers a vibrant educational and clinical environment, with multiple top-notch CEU conferences, clinical case reviews, and an atmosphere of noncompetitive lifelong learning and professional development. NSMC has long-standing clinical collaboration with Massachusetts General Hospital in the specialty of Psychiatry.
