Our Team

The Hospital Medicine Service specializes in providing comprehensive care to hospitalized patients. Hospitalists focus their practice on a specific group of patients and have expertise in managing very ill patients in the hospital setting. They provide high quality, evidence-based and efficient patient and family centered care. When patients are ready to be discharged, hospitalists ensure that medications are correct, follow-up appointments are scheduled, and that all services are in place for a safe transition home.

We are seeking a PA or NP to work collaboratively with hospital medicine physicians providing in-house coverage for patients on the medical service.

Salem Hospital - 81 Highland Avenue Salem, MA

Schedule

10-hour night shifts, 7on/7off schedule

Responsibilities

• Triage and initial evaluation of patients admitted to the non-housestaff service that includes detailed history gathering and physical examination, acquisition of accurate medication lists, review of initial patient data/information, timely entry of admission orders, and documentation
• Cross-coverage of non-housestaff patients on the service
• Thorough and timely documentation including billing on all appropriate services
• Provide psychological, emotional and informational support to patients and their families
• Sign out and distribution of medical patients to the daytime hospitalist teams
• Participate in quality improvement projects as requested
• Attend scheduled meetings per program requirements
