The Operating Room - Registered Nurse (RN) - Peri-Operative Training Program position is for entry into a 1 year, formal education program, which incorporates didactic, simulation, and a comprehensive exam that must be passed. Formal training will occur at an on-site simulation OR/lab, in addition to practicing the skills and implementing the knowledge learned in the surgical suite, under direct guidance. As the training progresses to working in specialty areas, the trainee will work under the guidance of service leads. Taking call with the primary preceptor will begin during the sixth month and functioning independently in the scrub and circulator roles for all services for routine cases by 6 months. Successful completion of OR Training program within 6 months.
The Registered Nurse manages all aspects of the nursing process and the delivery of patient and family centered care. The Registered Nurse has the responsibility and authority to request and use governing and administrative resources, technological and support systems, and multidisciplinary clinical experts necessary to manage and deliver quality, cost effective patient care.
