Part Time Track Coordinator, Nursing Education Programs (IHP Faculty)

Overview

This role is within the MGH- Institute of Health Professions located in the historical Charlestown Navy Yard

The MGH-Institute of Health Profession is searching for a part-time Track Coordinator for Nursing Education to fill a faculty position. The role requires designing, managing, teaching, and evaluating didactic or clinical nursing courses within the designated content area. The coordinator will be responsible for track coordination of nursing education programs including an online Post BSN-MS- Leadership in Nursing Education, Post-Master's Nursing Education Certificate of Completion, and Comprehensive Review for Academic Clinical Nurse Educator continuing education program. Additionally, the Track Coordinator will provide general academic advising to students, participate in professional and service activities, and engage in scholarship consistent with the level of appointment.

RESPONSIBILTIES:

Time spent in the areas below are negotiated between the Academic Unit Leader and individual faculty members, but are generally considered to be:

Teaching: 35%

  • Teaches within or across programs as appropriate to area of expertise and program needs.
  • Evaluate student achievement of nursing competencies appropriate to the program and level of student learning.
  • Participate in the development, evaluation, and revision of the nursing curriculum plan.

Administration: 15%

  • Serve as track coordinator for the Post BSN-MS: Leadership in Nursing Education Program and
  • Department of Labor grant supported nursing education programs.
    • Collaborate with the Office of Student Enrollment to review applications, participate in marketing, and reaching out to applicants.
    • Plan and execute orientation for new cohorts.
    • Mentor faculty teaching courses in the program
    • Participate in grant related activities in collaboration with the Associate Dean of Graduate Programs

Service: 20%

  • Serves on Department, School and Institute Committees and participates in professional activities, student advising, and department and Institute events.
  • Participates in SON and IHP governance, which includes the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of a systematic evaluation plan that encompasses all components of the program.

Scholarship: 30%

  • Identifies an area of scholarship as outlined in the IHP Scholarship Model.
  • Participates in scholarship activities within their identified domain commensurate with level of appointment.

Note: Specific responsibilities will be subject to change based on the needs and budgetary resources of the School of Nursing. Job descriptions and percentage of FTE will be reviewed and negotiated annually.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Faculty member assumes all responsibilities in being an active and contributing member to the school.
  • The faculty member will need to be flexible with schedule, able to prioritize and self-monitor, work collaboratively with others (including in interprofessional teams), and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • A candidate must hold a current Massachusetts Registered Nurse license in good standing and possess a Master of Science in Nursing and Certification in Nursing Education ( CNE).
  • A doctoral degree is preferred.
  • Candidates must possess a minimum of two years of full-time nursing experience, or its equivalent within the past five years.
  • Candidates must show evidence of expertise appropriate to their area of teaching.
  • Prior leadership experience in nursing education and grant management is preferred.

  • Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Effective organizational and delegation skills are required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.
