Under direction of the Senior Operations Manager of PET Production, the Radiology Pharmacy Technician provides a variety of services to support the safe and efficient production and use of PET radioactive drugs for research and clinical diagnostic use. Assists PET nuclear pharmacists and radiochemists in all aspects of the day to day operation of the PET Production Facility and radiopharmaceutical production facility operating under cGMP, including radiochemical production area, analytical laboratory and clean room.

Duties in the PET Nuclear Pharmacy and PET Radiopharmaceutical Manufacturing Facility including but not limited to:
· Following cGMP will assist in the aseptic preparation of PET radiopharmaceuticals in a clean room environment.
· Preparation of sterile filtration assemblies
· Environmental monitoring of aseptic processes
· Inoculation of sterility media
· Maintenance of clean room and production facility.
· Environmental and radiological monitoring of the clean room, production area and quality control lab
· Assists in the production of PET radiopharmaceuticals:
· Operation of automated radiochemistry synthesis units
· Cleaning of automated radiochemistry synthesis units
· Maintenance of automated radiochemistry synthesis units
· Quality control of PET radiopharmaceuticals
· Oversight of stock supplies (monitoring and replenishment)
· Packaging of radiopharmaceuticals for transport

Massachusetts General Hospital has an opening for a nuclear pharmacy technician. This is an exciting and rare opportunity for a pharmacy technician to work in a mixed pharmacy and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) drug manufacturing environments!
The MGH PET Center is a cGMP registered Positron Emission Tomography (PET) radiopharmaceutical manufacturer which produces sterile injectable radioactive drug for diagnostic imaging procedures at MGH. We produce several different PET drugs for a variety of clinical and clinical research indications, including clinical diagnostic imaging of cancer with F-18 Fludeoxyglucose. We are also involved in supporting a variety of other imaging studies which use PET to better understand diseases and to monitor response to therapies.
The role of the pharmacy technician is an important supporting the operation of the clean room for safe and sterile production of PET radiopharmaceuticals and assisting chemists and nuclear pharmacists with the synthesis and quality control analysis of PET radiopharmaceuticals.
The pharmacy technician candidate must be a registered as pharmacy technician in Massachusetts or eligible for licensure. A high school degree or equivalent is required. This is a full-time position with a competitive pay and benefits package.
Due to nature of producing sterile injectable drug products, prior clean room/aseptic process experience is desired.
Thorough and detailed training in cGMP, the manufacture of PET radiopharmaceuticals and the safe handling of radioactive materials will be provided.
