We are seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner to the orthopedic inpatient service line at Salem Hospital.
To provide Orthopedic episodic and acute care to patients in the medical center. The nurse practitioner (NP) assists individuals and families with their care needs by obtaining health and medical histories, performing physical examinations, and assessing health problems. The NP cares for patients with acute and chronic life limiting illnesses by managing therapeutic regimens, prescribing medications and performing other studies and activities that are deemed appropriate. New and follow-up patients will be seen and evaluated by the NP and physician input will be obtained as necessary as described in the nurse practitioner practice guidelines. The NP will assume orthopedic care management responsibilities and will facilitate communication with the patient, the patient's family or significant other and the referring physician. The NP will work in collaboration with the patients' attending physicians at the North Shore Medical Center, as well as provide continued collaboration with the patients' primary care provider(s).
Patients evaluated by the NP include those patients referred to the Orthopedic Service from inpatient consultation, pre/post operative care management and emergency services specific for treatment of orthopedic trauma and elective surgical procedures.The patient population includes adult patients 18 years of age and older.
