The Opportunity

We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Pain Clinic Nurse Practitioner/ Physician Assistant.

Days, 8:00am to 4:30pm

Our Team

The Center for Pain Management at Salem Hospital is committed to improving the quality of life for individuals who suffer from chronic pain, through interventional pain procedures and clinical collaborations. We create individual multimodal and multidisciplinary treatment plans for our patients to reduce their pain and improve their functionality.

We provide state of the art interventional pain management services through our hospital-based outpatient facility. Our multidisciplinary team of physicians and medical assistants/LPNs specialize in treating patients suffering from spine, joint, and muscular pains including lumbar/cervical radiculopathy, stenosis, joint and spine arthritis, post laminectomy syndrome, and myofascial pain. .

  • General Responsibilities
    • Comprehensive pain evaluation with detailed history gathering and physical examination
    • Develop comprehensive pain management plans including diagnostic testing, injection therapy, non-opioid medications, physical/occupational therapy, and appropriate referrals
    • Provide non opioid pain medication recommendations and management. We do not prescribe or take over opioid medications but will provide safe and appropriate prescribing or weaning practices
    • Follow up care of chronic pain patient care plans
    • Coordination of care with specialists and primary care physicians
    • Timely response to patient messages, medication refill requests, peer-to-peer reviews
    • Thorough and timely documentation including billing on all appropriate services
    • Respond appropriately in an emergency situation
    • Adhere to established standards of care and evidence-based care practice models
    • Attends, participates and contributes in group/practice meetings and development of policies and procedures as necessary
    • Show compassion and respect for all

Qualifications

Experience
• Preferred: 1 year experience as a nurse practitioner/physician assistant, chronic pain experience

Education
• Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nurse practitioner or physician assistant program with a Master's degree
Licensure
• Required: Current Massachusetts state license as a registered nurse practitioner or physician assistant
